British “Irish Guards” enlisted man’s cap
One of the five famous Regiments of foot Guards, the Irish Guards are a local Guards regiment formed by Queen Victoria in 1900 to honor the bravery of the Irish troops who fought in the Boer War. The regimental motto, “Quis Separabit” comes from the motto of the Order of St. Patrick, which means “Who shall separate us.” Caps for the Irish Guards still maintain the very tall, cylindrical design which is so characteristic of older military visor caps. Again, my warmest thanks to Phil.
