Greek Air Force senior officer’s cap
One doesn’t often find caps for high-ranking air force personnel, and this one is particularly unusual in that it’s from Greece, which didn’t have much of an air force back in the late 40s or early 50s when this cap was made. The lining is heavily padded in true RAF style and bears the label of a hatmaker in Athens. As far as I know, the single row of oak-leaf visor decorations is only used by colonels or “Group Captains” as they’re called in the British RAF. |

In 1967, a military coup ousted the Greek royal family so newer caps do not feature the crown seen on this early badge. |
