Polish Army captain’s visor cap
A typical army officer’s service cap. The stars on the front, plus the number of lines of braid on the visor are used to denote rank. One row of braid and two stars is for 2nd lieutenant, three stars for 1st lieutenant, and four stars for captain. Field grade officers have two rows of braid and one star for major, two for lt. colonel, and three for colonel. Generals have a zig-zag band of braid decorating the hat band. This particular hat is dated February, 1980—interesting in light of the role of the Army vs. Solidarity about that time.
