Frederiksberg County Fire Department cap
A lovely old cap, perhaps from the late forties. For a long time I thought this was a forestry official’s hat since the decoration under the enamelled county medallion look kind of like deer antlers or branches. Actually, they’re supposed to be flames. By the way, Frederiksberg County is a geopolitical island surrounded by Copenhagen County. It’s generally considered a pretty classy place to live, although I found this cap at a garage sale in Gentofte County, which is considered even classier. To make a long story longer, I know a fireman for Gentofte County—but he lives in Frederiksberg. Quite frankly, I find all this a bit worrisome—why don’t these firemen live where they work?
