They say that the real test of a good Panama hat is that it should be able to be rolled up and passed through a wedding ring—and still retain its shape, but I haven’t tried this yet. They were very popular for travelling, particularly those with an Optimo crown, which have a single long ridge running from front to back with a dimple on each side. I got this one from Roland the Hatter in Miami. As you can see from the shape, this one doesn’t travel at all well.
