Ebbe’s mom’s nurses hat
My good friend Ebbe, gave me this rather rare cap, which had belonged to his late mother. She was a professional nurse who, as part of the Danish National Health Program, made regular house-calls on elderly citizens—a tough, underpaid job that required a commitment and personal sacrifice that few are willing to make these days. She even shopped and cleaned for her patients when necessary, although this wasn’t officially part of the job. “Healthcare is more than just pills and pulse-taking,” she said.
