32nd degree Scottish Rite hat
This cap is for the highest of the Masonic ranks, but is still fairly common. Masons with higher, honorary ranks wear red, blue, or white caps—each with a unique badge. This one is a “soft-sided” version, although stiff pillbox styles also exist. Many thanks to Howard in Florida for sending me this fine addition and for explaning some fraternal mysteries to me. And thanks to Al, also in Florida, for explaining Howard's explanation!
