Loyal Order of Moose cap
The hat is called a “tah” (hat spelled backward). It was the official headgear of the lodge from 1918 through about 1989 and always comes with a purple tassel. The red button on which the tassel is attached indicates the owner was a Past North Moose. This is the highest office in the state or regional Moose Legion. Internationally there are about 190 Moose Legions in all. The second blue-gray tassel indicates that the owner held a particular Degree of Merit, but I haven’t found out which one yet. Any help out there?
