Royal Canadian Mounted Police cap
Dated 1979, this is the classic RCMP forage cap with the squared visor and gilt and enamel buffalo badge. This model went into service in 1975 and as far as I know is pretty much the same as the style used today. Of particular interest to collectors, from 1973 to 1975, this cap featured a cloth-covered visor and a plastic lining, which made the hat very hot to wear. The model shown here has a course-weave hat band that provides improved ventilation during the summer—for winter use, it’s covered by a removable yellow wool band.
