Canadian “Princess Louise Dragoon Guards” officer’s cap (WWII)
The really interesting feature of this unusual cap is the row of blackened maple leaves running along the edge of the visor. I can’t recall ever having seen that before and assume that this indicates a senior officer rank. The 4th Prince Louise Dragoon Guards were formed back in 1872 and were disbanded in 1965. During WWII, the regiment performed heroically in North Africa, Sicily and in France—first as an infantry reconnaissance regiment, later becoming an armored reconnaisance battalion, and later still, back to infantry. Any additional information would be sincerely appreciated! By the way, the cap is actually VERY dark green, not black as it appears in the photo.
