Germany - Third Reich
Third Reich “Luftwaffe” officer’s visor cap
A really clean example of an early Luftwaffe cap with the so-called “drop-tailed eagle.” The sweatshield was removed at the time this cap was given to a Danish collector back in 1945. I suspect the officer, whose name was written on the sweatshield, was a Danish collaborator from Southern Jutland, which was part of Germany from 1864-1920. Although I don’t have it, I understand the sweatshield still exists. The German officer was stationed at “Fliegerhorst Grove,” which I believe is the present-day Karup Flyvestation. |
