United Kingdom
British Royal Air Force group captain
Featuring the typical saddle shape that came to characterize RAF caps during 1943-44, hats for Group Captains (colonels) with their single row of oak leaves are almost as difficult to find as those for air marshals! I’m still researching this one, but I can tell you that the previous owner had the initials MWBK and bought this custom-order beauty from Bates Hatter, 21 Jermyn Street, St. James—one of the most famous of the London makers.
