Civil Air Patrol junior officer’s cap
The Civil Air Patrol is an official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force. It is a volunteer, non-profit, benevolent organization, headquartered at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. It has local units in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and on several overseas military bases. The CAP was organized under formal order of Fiorello LaGuardia, director of the U.S. Office of Civilian Defense, on December 1, 1941, less than one week before the bombing of Pearl Harbor.The visor service caps are identical to those of the Air Force, except for the side buttons and the badge.
