Germany - Third Reich
Third Reich “Luftwaffe” general’s visor cap
Luftwaffe generals had gold-piped hats with gold insignia and chinstraps, as opposed to lower-ranking officers, who had silver applications. I can’t for the life of me figure out if this one is real, although the hat appears to be a wartime product. At any rate, a German friend of mine gave this to me, explaining that a neighbor in Aachen was about to throw it out. My friend rescued it for my collection. The eagle had been removed when I got the hat, so the one you see here is a recent replacement.
