Australian Army “2/14 Light Horse” slouch hat
Classic headgear in every respect, the slouch hat has been the hallmark of Australian armed forces since the turn of the century. This particular hat is only a few years old and bears both the standard general service badge on the upturned brim, plus a “Second/Fourteenth Light Horse” Queensland Light Infantry badge on the puggaree. For parade use, a fan of emu feathers is attached just behind the army badge (next photo). The puggaree itself has seven folds, which symbolize the seven Australian states. Many thanks to Simon, way out in the outback, for sending this to me.
